Gillet Painting & Decorating
25 Years of Craftsmanship. Rebuilt for the Web.
Gillet Painting & Decorating had something that can't be manufactured by a web designer: more than two decades of real projects, craftsmanship and reputation across Niagara. Our job was to turn that existing body of work into a modern digital experience built around the way customers actually discover and evaluate a premium painting contractor.
Visual Evidence
Real Project Photography & Finish Craftsmanship
Rather than generic stock photos, every image across the new website showcases real Gillet finishes on location in Niagara homes, heritage estates, and commercial properties.
The Challenge
The Work Was Better Than the Website Showing It
The previous digital presence contained years of accumulated photography, project references and business experience, but the information architecture did not make that expertise easy to understand.
Services were separated primarily into broad categories such as residential, commercial, interior and exterior painting.
The opportunity was therefore not: “Create more content.”
It was: “Make better use of the content and evidence that already existed.”
That distinction is important.
The Approach
A Complete Rebuild Without Throwing Away 25 Years of Visual Evidence
We didn't start with a blank stock-photo library. We started with Gillet's actual work.
We reviewed, selected, curated and repurposed existing photography from the company's previous digital presence, then rebuilt the website around the strongest visual evidence.
Old assets. New architecture. New presentation.
We rebuilt the website from the ground up while preserving the visual history that made the business credible in the first place.
Pillar 01
01: Photography Curation: We Didn't Need to Invent the Portfolio. We Needed to Curate It.
Gillet already had years of completed projects documented. Instead of replacing that material with generic photography, we:
- Reviewed the existing image library across decades of accumulated project archives.
- Selected stronger examples that highlighted master brushwork, clean edges, and texture depth.
- Reorganized the visual material into contextual project groups.
- Reused project photography throughout the new architecture on relevant landing pages (explore our Commercial Photography capabilities).
- Created stronger visual relationships between services and proof.
- Used the existing work as a central part of the new user experience.
The result is visible throughout the site: the homepage, gallery, commercial section and other pages all use real Gillet work as evidence of capability.
That is much more authentic than putting a stock photograph of a guy holding a paint roller on the hero.
Pillar 02
02: Website Rebuilt From Zero: A Facelift on the Outside. A New Website Underneath.
It wasn't simply “we redesigned their website.” We rebuilt the digital property from the ground up while preserving and upgrading the valuable material accumulated over years.
Streamlined Site Taxonomy & Navigation Hierarchy
Modern Information Architecture| Section / Navigation Route | Structural Role | Targeted Search & Conversion Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Commercial Painting | Primary Commercial Hub | High-ticket facilities, retail, hospitality & commercial environments |
| Residential → Interior Painting | Dedicated Service Silo | Walls, trim, cabinetry, fine architectural finishes & colour direction |
| Residential → Exterior Painting | Dedicated Service Silo | Siding, masonry, decks, patios, shutters & concrete staining |
| Gallery / Work | Visual Evidence Repository | Categorized project proof and historical craftsmanship archive |
| About | Trust & Experience Hub | 25-year founding story (since 1999/2000) and founder reputation |
| Contact / Estimate | Conversion Engine | Frictionless estimate request form with project scope inputs |

That is a much better foundation for future SEO, content expansion and conversion optimization.
Pillar 03
03: Content Architecture: From “Painting Company” to a Broader Finishing Specialist
The site now communicates that Gillet is not simply offering generic painting. The existing work and copy establish capabilities across:
The commercial page in particular positions Gillet around custom Venetian plasters, murals, faux finishes and commercial environments, while the exterior page goes well beyond walls into decks, patios, gates, siding, shutters, concrete staining and other exterior surfaces, built via our SEO Copywriting and Performance Websites architecture.
That's a much richer service proposition than simply: “We paint houses.”
Pillar 04
04: Visual System: One New Visual Element. Hundreds of Real Ones Reconsidered.
We didn't manufacture a fake new identity for Gillet. The visual strategy was largely about making the company's existing work feel intentional.
The new site uses:
- Curated project photography reflecting real Niagara client projects.
- Existing portfolio imagery re-encoded for modern high-resolution displays.
- Stronger image sequencing leading with high-impact architectural finishes.
- Improved presentation with generous whitespace and clear typography.
- A new custom texture/background element that adds refined tactile depth to the homepage.
- Cleaner visual hierarchy and stronger relationships between text and imagery.
Not more photography. Better use of photography.

Pillar 05
05: SEO Foundation: The Foundation Is Live. Now We Measure the Growth.
The current website already gives search engines much clearer topical signals through dedicated pages for residential, commercial, interior and exterior painting. The next stage is measurement.
We don't yet have enough post-launch Search Console data to claim ranking or traffic improvements. The rebuilt website establishes the technical, content and conversion foundation. Organic search performance will now be measured against the new architecture as Google recrawls and reassesses the site.
The Niagara SEO Perspective
We Didn't Create the Experience. Gillet Already Had It.
We rebuilt the website so the experience could finally be seen.
We don't automatically tell every client to buy new photography, new copy, a new brand, and a giant content campaign.
Sometimes the client already has 20+ years of assets. The job is to identify what is valuable, eliminate what isn't, reorganize it, and build a much better digital machine around it.
A Sophisticated Agency Story:
Preserving 25 years of hard-earned reputational equity while transforming the digital platform into a high-performance foundation for future local SEO and lead generation.
